How to create a Google review link in 5 minutes

The most important building block for more reviews is a link that takes guests straight into the review form. Instead of searching for your listing, they tap a few stars and are done. Here is how to find that link and where to use it.

Prerequisite: a verified business profile

You need a Google Business Profile for your location that you manage as the owner. Only then are the functions for sharing the review form available. If you do not have a profile yet, create and verify it first.

Finding the link

Test the link in a private browser window. It should open the review form with the stars directly.

  1. Sign in with the account that manages your business profile.
  2. Open your profile in Google Search or Google Maps – or in the profile management.
  3. Look for the function to get more reviews. Depending on the interface it is called “Get more reviews”, “Share review form” or similar; the wording may change.
  4. Copy the short link shown. It usually looks like g.page/r/…/review.

Where to use the link

  • NFC card or stand – at the table, till or counter. See NFC review card.
  • QR code on invoices, receipts, menus or windows.
  • Email signature and appointment confirmation.
  • A link page with several targets so that guests also find your menu or booking next to the review.

Better: use your own intermediate address

Do not print the Google link itself on cards and flyers but your own short address that forwards to it. If the Google link ever changes or you want to switch the target, you do not have to reprint anything. Scans can also be counted this way.

What to watch for

  • Do not tie the link to conditions (“only review after a good experience”). That is not allowed under the policies.
  • Do not offer anything in return for reviews.
  • Check the link from time to time, for example after a change of address or business name.

Frequently asked questions

Does the review link cost anything?

No. The link is a free feature of the Google Business Profile.

Can I use one link for several locations?

Every location has its own profile and therefore its own link. Use separate cards or QR codes per location.

Do guests need a Google account?

Yes. To leave a review, guests must be signed in to Google. Many smartphone users already are.
